Account Locked Out – How to Regain Access
This article explains what to do if your Meharry account becomes locked and how to regain access.
Applies To: Faculty, Staff, and Students
Service: Accounts & Passwords
Issue: Locked Meharry Account
Why Is My Account Locked?
Your Meharry account may become locked after multiple unsuccessful sign-in attempts. This can occur if an incorrect password is entered several times or if a device or application continues attempting to sign in using an old password.
Important: The Office of Information Technology is not able to manually unlock a locked account.
Your account will automatically unlock after approximately 30 minutes.
Need Access Sooner?
If you do not want to wait for the 30-minute lockout period to expire, you can reset your Meharry password.
Reset Your Password
- Go to the Meharry Password Reset page .
- Enter your Meharry email address.
- Complete the identity verification process when prompted.
- Create a new password.
- Sign in again using your new password.
After Resetting Your Password
After changing your password, update any devices or applications that may still have your old Meharry password saved.
This may include:
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Teams
- Mobile email applications
- Wi-Fi connections
- Other applications using your Meharry credentials
Avoid Additional Lockouts
A device or application using your old password may continue attempting to sign in automatically. This can cause your account to become locked again.
Still Unable to Sign In?
If you have waited at least 30 minutes or successfully reset your password and are still unable to access your account, contact the Meharry OIT Help Desk for assistance.
